Who wears a cape?!

I was reading the SelfishSeamstress’ blog, and decided to check out the Burda website to see if there was anything that appealed to me. In all honesty, the answer is no, but after seeing Burda’s cape pattern it reminded me of a question that I have been wondering for a while. Who seriously wears a cape? I mean, this isn’t 1850 anymore, and I can’t imagine the number of funny looks that would be given to the person who actually made up and wore said cape. And since you can’t seem to buy one anywhere locally, what are the odds people would immediately notice the “homemade” factor? I don’t know….maybe Europe is different….maybe there is a legion of cape aficionados there?
